In Bitsy, I played three games titled "Where are my glasses?", "The Midnight Bakery", and "Sleepi Boi can't Sleep". The first game seemed to be made by a beginner, because the gameplay experience was choppy and a little annoying at times. The creator seemed like they had a good idea with the interactive third-wall breaking narrator, but it wasn't executed in the best way. The second game, "The Midnight Bakery" was very cute and a good game. The mechanics are simple: you move left and right choosing ingredients and toppings of cakes for mysterious customers. The graphics are adorable and well-made, and each character has so much personality. I really liked this game until I unexpectedly died and had to start over again, which I didn't. It would be great if this game could incorporate more hints on what the customer wants instead of having the player's whole gameplay based on guesses. The last game, "Sleepi Boi can't sleep" was made by a user inspired by himself. The game talks about how he's been so focused on making Bitsy games that he couldn't sleep. The mechanics are harder for this game; the stage is 3-D, you are able to change your view by dragging with your mouse. However, the direction you go changes as the map is turned, even if you're still using the same keys. The design and idea was so cute and well made, but the game itself was so hard to play just because of the controls.
Playing online Bitsy games for the first time made me want to make one of myself. I have endless ideas for games that I would someday like to develop through a studio. Although it will not be the image I want it to be, creating games in Bitsy seems like good experience and practice, as well as portfolio build-up. Bitsy seems like a good start to game design. And yes, developing and creating a project through coding will be very frustrating because of the individual nature of HTML. But I still would like t challenge myself and create a playable game and not just sketches or concept art. Not to mention how proud of myself I would be once I have a finished product.
